Zack is such a wonderful and fleshed out character and by the end of it I was holding my breath wanting to see him be okay. But man, I have not been able to stop thinking about this movie. It has been en grained in my head in the past month and has even inspired my own stuff I’m working on. This movie is such a great look at Hollywood in its golden age. Since I visited there last Summer and even saw some of the sets used in this movie to see the way classic Hollywood was brought to life was almost like seeing Endgame all over again. This films aesthetic is something to get lost in, but I also love. The Farewell is a film I’ve only heard massive acclaim for and was really hyped to watch. It was interesting, when the film first started it wasn’t what I was expecting it to be like. With the concept and all, I figured this would be a very dark drama with comedic bits sprinkled in. However, the film is pretty light earthed and fluffy for the most part. It doesn’t fish for you to feel things about it or smother you with sentimentality and I actually really admire that.
