Even a different way of presentation. The first few episodes take some getting used to, but by episode three the structure of All I need is Starbucks and my dog Grinch christmas shirt really becomes something pretty engaging. Thankfully, this is one of those shows that’s continuing to mold, evolve and get better within episodes. I think this is because Olan Rogers has evolved as a writer. This season is hilarious and all of the gags and visual humor are just a thing of beauty. Olan Rogers specific wit just shines. It so easily could just come off as “screaming” humor yet the characters are so abrasive and what they say is so utterly ridiculous or charming that the whole thing just works. I think what sells this show are its really dynamic characters. Gary Goodspeed was a little grating to start off with in the first season. I liked the show and even the character but his shticks could have gotten so old. He still is his goofy and fun loving self but he is much more aware of All I need is Starbucks and my dog Grinch christmas shirt around him and seeing him grow as a human is such a cathartic thing. One of my favorite shows is Bojack Horseman, where we see Bo jack never be able to change so to see Gary take the route. When I was a kid, before I went to bed my dad would read me a comic series called “Bone”. This series consisted of Mickey Mouse looking characters going on quests and adventures that were on the scale of Lord of the Rings- and I loved it. I read all the comics, multiple times, could tell you all the characters names and relationships with each other. Bone was my Star Wars. What I mean by that is I didn’t really get into Star Wars as much until I was in All I need is Starbucks and my dog Grinch christmas shirt so that thing to spark my passion for wanting to create stuff was Bone. Starbucks and my dog just released and Striking Vipers was interesting as hell. They always love to put a strange twist on futuristic romance and this certainly embodies that, as well as exploring the odd sexuality of it. Even came with a bittersweet ending as opposed to the typical depression inducing ones. To prove what a massive fan I am, here’s me posing with my giant Bone plush. Throughout my whole life, I have just waited for the day they would announce a Bone movie. The Bone movie has been my most anticipated movie of all time. I’ve told several when that movie came out, there is no way it wouldn’t be my favorite movie of all time unless they really just crapped the bed with it. Yet, I know Jeff Smith and his protection of Bone and the way he wants to treat it. The fact that Netflix is doing a Bone series is amazing. I was at work today and saw the article and almost did a spit take right where I was. I’ve been waiting for this for so long.
